EU animal health regulation (EU 2016/429) requires that animals or products of animal origin must come from holdings which have been regularly inspected for signs of disease.
To satisfy this requirement abattoirs must confirm that the last holding (excluding markets) on which the animals resided had an assured status (QMS or Red Tractor) or had a Veterinary Attestation in place.
